Zonte’s Footstep is a proudly independent Australian wine producer established in 2003. Named after the house-cooling breeze of the ‘Lake Doctor’. These winds arrive from the Great Southern Ocean direct from Antarctica, reviving the vines and vignerons alike in the peak of summer heat.
Lovely nose with hint of black olive aromas give a savoury edge to the nose. Spicy palate showing generous fruit and good tannin structure. December Issue; Rating: 94 Points; Wine Showcase Magazine
A welcome step away from the fruity exuberance that serves as this address’ calling card. Nothing wrong with that. However, frankly, I needed some tannin. Real tannin. This delivers. Just. Tapenade, cassis, bay leaf and bitter chocolate. The usual morass of oak. But a line of nourishing tannins serves the drinker and the wine well. At times like these, thank God for Cabernet! Drink to: 2026; Rating: 91 Points; Ned Goodwin MW; James Halliday Wine Companion
Delectably styled and composed, the wine shows dark fruit richness together with smoked game, almond and fragrant spice notes on the nose. It's plump and succulent, offering fabulous fruit power, well supported by silky texture and fine tannins with a prolonged delicious finish. At its best: now to 2030; Price: $30.00; Rating: 94 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
