Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine farm in the McLaren Vale region in South Australia. The Yangarra philosophy centres around producing wines solely from its single-vineyard estate and the property is devoted to the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone. Yangarra's combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in these moderate maritime environments.
100% Shiraz from estate vineyard adopts more of a cooler climate expression than the typical McLaren Vale style thanks to the vineyard’s elevation and cooling night breezes from the nearby Southern Lofty Ranges, but retains concentration and complexity. Estate grown in Kangarilla.
From the Blewitt Springs single-vineyard estate on sand and ironstone soils. It wasn't entirely a surprise that McLaren Vale's first-among-equals winery should have made this gorgeously succulent wine, but I couldn't help but consulting the thesaurus to be sure 'succulent' covered the field. The entry reads: 'juicy, moist, luscious, soft, tender, mouth-watering, appetising, flavoursome, tasty, delicious.' Date: Sept 2022; Alcohol: 14%; Price: $35.00; Drink by: 2033; Rating: 97 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
