Hoddles Creek Estate was established in 1997 when the D'Anna family decided to establish a vineyard on the property that has been in the family since 1960. The vineyard sits astride Gembrook road and adjacent Hoddles Creek.
Made by the guys at Hoddles Creek; the Wickhams Road wines are made with the same philosophy used with Hoddles Creek. They are single vineyard wines with the care and attention that has made Hoddles Creek such a success. The difference with Wickhams Road is that it has been sourced from trusted growers around Victoria. Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
I make it like a Chardonnay, says Franco d’Anna. Green apple, a little nutty, slight fennel and herb notes. It’s fleshy and textured, green apple and lemon/tangerine sorbet, has weight too, but it’s balanced and long with it. There’s a bit of Rheinhessen here! (though don’t mind me). Superb drinking, and value with it. Date: Sept 2023; Alcohol: 11.5%; Price: $20; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2023-2028+; Rated: 94 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
