The Twinwoods Estate Vineyard is located on the south eastern catchment of Wilyabrup creek in the locality of Cowaramup. As such it is approximately 30 kilometres north of the Margaret River town-ship and in what is regarded as the prime growing area for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Optivus is the flagship wine from the Estate and is a reflection of the region, the local conditions, the viticulture and winemaking, what in some circles is referred to as “Terroir”.
This outstanding cabernet is a result of selection of the best barrels. Tasted a couple of years ago, but it has now moved up a notch or two. Still firm, structured and stylish in one fell swoop. The fruit is beautifully concentrated and set off against the powdery chalky fine tannins, creating such an elegant, poised palate. The aromas of black olive tapenade and bay leaf with the deep fruitier tones of blackcurrant really fill the middle palate. Every time I look at this it seems to get better. Long cellaring time ahead of it. Price: $65.00; Drink to: 2024-2042; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan
