The name Thorn-Clarke derives literally from the relationship between two long time Barossa Families. Founders David and Cheryl Clarke (nee Thorn), work with their son and daughter, Sam and Nicole, in this family orientated business. With four family owned vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valley,
Chardonnay sourced from Mount Crawford in the Eden Valley. Luscious aromas of nectarine and white peach with splashes of grapefruit and lemon. Hints of white flowers, soft spice, clotted cream, lemon curd and vanillin in the mix also. Bright, quartzy acidity provides tension and drives the stone fruits along nicely, with notes of curd and cinnamon-spiced oatmeal underneath, finishing dry, taut and mealy. Drink to: 2026; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: December 2021; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 92 Points; Dave Brookes; James Halliday Wine Companion
This has a gently flinty edge with fresh pear and apple, as well as pastry and nougat and lightly cedary oak influence. The palate has plenty of acidity and carries pithy lemon and grapefruit flavors, together with some melon. Restrained and acidity-driven. Some oak warms the finish. Drink now. Rating: 90 Points; James Suckling
