The Lane Vineyard has been the custodian of an enviable piece of pristine Adelaide Hills terroir since the first vines were planted in 1993. Sitting 450m high atop the rolling hills adjacent the Onkaparinga Valley, the vineyards enjoy the warm days and cool nights that the Adelaide Hills Wine Region is so famous for.
Lifted, fine and elegant. A classic, cool-climate Shiraz with aromas of lifted violets, forest fruits and cloves followed by flavours of dense brambly fruit, spice and charcuterie with fine tannins and a delicate acid poise.
Sometimes back labels can be useful for vinification information, and once in a blue moon are as accurate as this 'Aromas of forest fruits and clove followed by flavours of plum, black pepper and charcuterie with a silky texture and fine tannins.' Precisely. Drink to: 2035; Price: $30.00; Alcohol: 13.8%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
Deep purple/red colour, with a rich earthy, meaty bouquet of a slightly reductive, early-bottled young shiraz. It's full-bodied and rich, with good fleshy density and generosity of flavour. Big, rounded, ample flavour; very good drinking already and should take some age happily. Drink: 2022 to 2035; Price: $30.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 92 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
