Clairault Streicker began in 1976 when Ian and Ani Lewis bought 4 hectares and planted their first vines. Resilient and visionary, they worked their vineyard diligently — crafting their first vintage in 1980. For the next 19 years, they developed and expanded the Clairault property to over 68 hectares.
Nectarines, freshly cut yellow peach and lime zest dotted with hints of cinnamon, cashews and brioche on the nose. The palate displays white stone fruits, grapefruit and creamy French Oak, guided by fine lines of fine tannin and brought to yield by generous and soft textures. A persistent and mineral finish of seas-spray and crushed granite.
A dusty gold shimmering with pale green in the glass – how lovely. Lemon-limes, flinty, spicy, oak seamlessly integrated, and the palate still quite tight. It’s slinky and chic with fine acidity in the lead. Delicious drink. One of the best of these I have tasted. Whole bunch pressed, barrel fermented and aged in French oak barriques for 9 months with stirring every 2 weeks. Only the best barrels are selected. There is power and concentration here with a fine focus that carries to a very long finish. Captures the grapefruit and lime edginess with a little richer nectarine influence from the Gingin clone. The palate makes quite a statement with its power and drive with the little subtle oyster shell minerality providing the final flourish.
