The Stonehaven winery was built in 1998 by Hardy’s, with a focus to express what the Limestone Coast can offer as a region. Since then the brand has relaunched back into the market with wth a refreshed look with a range of wines for every occasion.
This Chardonnay features aromatic expressions of stone fruit and apple, with a hint of herb and mineral characters. Medium bodied, flavours of honeysuckle and white nectarine support a creamy mouthfeel and lingering finish.
Elegant and complex, the inviting bouquet shows ripe peach, lemon zest, vanilla, oatmeal and roasted cashew aromas, followed by a wonderfully expressed palate delivering creamy mouthfeel backed by juicy acidity, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2034. Date: July 2024; Rating: 94 Points; Wine Orbit
An elegant style of Chardonnay from the Padthaway region, this is a deep yellow in colour. The nose exhibits notes of stone fruits, peaches, nectarines, florals, a flick of lime and hints of river stones. Good intensity, but this is a Chardonnay which is refined and balanced. There is good focus here, a pleasingly creamy texture, with bright acidity and a lingering finish. Expect this to drink well for the next three to five years.
