Stefano Stefani comes from the rolling hills of Tuscany where his grandfather owned a vineyard and was an avid collector of fine wines. Some years after moving to Australia in 1985, Stefano and his wife Rina acquired their first vineyard at Long Gully Road in the Yarra Valley and a few years later, a satellite property was purchased at Heathcote
Dark ruby red in colour shows notes of white pepper and cloves on the nose with hints of blueberries. The palate is rich and plush with dark fruit flavours and ends with warm tannins.
From a single vineyard planted in 1998. 50% whole berries; matured in large-format French oak for 14 months. A very youthful and deep crimson purple. Aromas of ripe, juicy cranberries. fresh red plum and well-handled cedar oak that will settle down in time. Medium–full bodied, this has a core of concentrated, dark, briary fruits and there are enough ripe and persistent tannins to suggest this will age well over the next decade. Date: Dec 2021; Alcohol: 14.2%; Price: $65.00; Drink by: 2028; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
