Rising One Acre Chardonnay 2021
Made from 30-year-old vines planted on a south-facing slope at Rising in Nillumbik; whole-bunch pressed to French oak (25% new). A brilliant, light green gold. Subtle and engaging with its bouquet of just picked stone fruits, lemon confit, grilled nuts and a whiff of sea spray. Still tightly wound on the saline, compact and satisfying palate. A lovely wine which has still yet to fully hit its straps. Date: Sept 2024; Alcohol: 12.5%; Price: $45.00; Drink by: 2027; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion

Sidewood Mappinga Chardonnay 2022
Dijon clones 95 and 76; hand picked and partially whole-bunch pressed, wild-yeast fermented in French hogsheads and puncheons (30% new) and matured for 10 months, then the finest barrels chosen for this wine. A classic white peach, pink grapefruit flavour, the palate long and racy. Drink to: 2030; Alcohol: 12%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion

Dr Edge Tasmania Chardonnay 2022
A blend of chardonnay from the Tamar and Derwent valleys, pressed to old oak, wild fermented and matured for nine months on lees, some casks with small amounts of whole clusters. Pale straw. Taut yet textured with a slinky array of white peach, lemon and grapefruit tones underlined with soft spice, roasting nuts, lemon curd, white flowers, stone and almond paste. Stony and composed with an umami-rich line of acidity and a real sense of harmony and composition as it slowly retreats with citrus and a wisp of oatmeal. Date: Mar 2023; Alcohol: 12%; Price: $60.00; Drink by: 2029; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; Dave Brookes; James Halliday Wine Companion

Dukes Margaret River Chardonnay 2022
Light-medium yellow and bright in the glass; intense grapefruit, sweet-herb and lemon-balm aromas overlaid by a nutty, peanut brittle trace from oak-maturation. The wine remains delicate, reserved and refined in the mouth, with excellent line and length. Intense, concentrated lemon/citrus fruit. An impressive young chardonnay that will certainly age superbly. A stunner.  Date: Aug 2023; Alcohol: 12.5%; Price: $62.00; Drink: 2023-2034; Rating: 96 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
