Since 1952 Schild hands have tended to a selection of Barossa Valley’s most treasured and rare vines, some amongst the oldest in the world. The wisdom passed down through the generations ensures each vineyard’s unique terroir is expressed in their premium collection of wines.

Inviting notes of creamy freshly scraped vanilla pods and a melange of dark compote fruit draws the drinker in to discover more. Once in the mouth, flavours of blood plums and blackberries are supported by classic Shiraz notes of coffee bean and subtle pepper spice. There is a depth and chewiness to the palate which hints at the quality of fruit, but also a brightness and vitality that is derived from the elevated location of the vineyard site. The fruit rolls out though the back of palate all the while encapsulated by a well resolved tannin frame which will soften over time in the cellar.

It’s hard to imagine a better encapsulation of this wonderful season in the Barossa. The aromas are a beguiling combination of spice, fruit cake, dark plum and prune with a liberal dollop of dark chocolate and a lick of licorice. Supremely balanced and poised with the chalky thread of tannin and the liberal use of oak lacing it together into a marvellous example of the Barossa at its best.
