In 1962, 19 vine growers from San Marzano whose families had farmed the land for generations, combined their efforts to establish 'Cantine San Marzano'. Through the decades this cooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1,200 vine growers. Using modern and technologically advanced vinification techniques they produce elegant wines that pay homage to the ancient Apulian wine traditions.
In 2012, fifty years after the founding of Cantine San Marzano, Collezione Cinquanta was born. As a non-vintage wine, it has been designed for the occasion, a precious blend of the best red grape (Negroamaro and Primitivo) of Salento. Powerful and structured, with a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits and spices.
Ruby red colour with purple reflections; an intense and complex bouquet with fruity notes of prune and red jam, and a spicy scent of vanilla and licorice.
Intense on the palate, full-bodied and soft with a long aftertaste
The vineyard is located in Salento, Puglia, where the vines are grown at an altitude of approximately 100 metres above sea level. Collezione Cinquanta San Marzano is a big and fleshy wine full of chocolate and spice flavours, smooth and very long. A blend of 50% Negroamaro and 50% Primitivo, the wine is ruby red with purple reflections, and has an intense and complex bouquet with fruity notes of prune, vanilla and liqorice. Rating: 97 Points, Luca Maroni, Annual Italian Wine Guide
