Rising Vineyard is nestled in a valley on the outskirts of the beautiful township of St Andrews - set among unspoilt bushland and rolling hills in the Nillumbik Shire. This subregion is like no other. Nillumbik is derived from the Wurundjeri term for the area nyilumbik, which literally translates to dumb or bad earth, and our terroir is unique to the rest of the Yarra Valley.

This comes off a single block that is now 30 years old. An impressive Chardonnay combining power, texture and finesse. Savoury minerally aromas with a little chalk dust. The palate has a brightness and vibrancy with depth and a slightly fleshy concentrated middle. Layered and intense with a sustained finish. Subtle hunt of cereal mealiness on the finish. Date: June 2024; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan; Wine Pilot

Made from 30-year-old vines planted on a south-facing slope at Rising in Nillumbik; whole-bunch pressed to French oak (25% new). A brilliant, light green gold. Subtle and engaging with its bouquet of just picked stone fruits, lemon confit, grilled nuts and a whiff of sea spray. Still tightly wound on the saline, compact and satisfying palate. A lovely wine which has still yet to fully hit its straps. Date: Sept 2024; Alcohol: 12.5%; Price: $45.00; Drink by: 2027; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
