The Reschke history and its close relationship with Coonawarra began in 1906 with the establishment of a prime Hereford stud in the heart of the region. It is this cattle grazing heritage that is reflected in the Reschke bull logo, and the names of the premium Reschke wines.
The Vitulus 20 displays a dark ruby red colour, with hints of green peppercorn and forest floor on the nose. The palate provides fruit intensity, embodying flavours of blackcurrant and light blueberry alongside refreshing dried herbs. High sandy tannins and integrated vanillin oak characteristics provide a long and engaging finish.
Curranty fruit flavours, red and black, blend effortlessly with bay leaf, cedar and choc-mint characters. Balance and integration are the keys here, the fruit having almost completely consumed the oak, and with all the components left to flow freely and well. There's a (positive) stringiness to the tannin though again, it's in lock-step with the fruit. This is well turned out. Drink to: 2035; Price: $30.00; Tasted: Feb 2023; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 93 Points & Special Value Star; Campbell Mattinson; James Halliday Wine Companion
Beautifully styled and classically structured, showing cassis, dried herb, cedary oak and subtle cocoa notes on the nose. The palate displays excellent concentration, wonderfully supported by fine texture and loads of polished tannins, finishing impressively long and refined. Drink: Now to 2035. Price: $60.00; Rating: 95 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
Fresh black fruit characters here with sweet spicy notes and dark chocolaty elements. Tannins add length and structure. Price: $32.00; March April 2022; Rating: 94 Points; Winestate Magazine
