When two good mates get together, one the Chief Winemaker with a major winery, the other with a passion for wine –  the inevitable had to happen and Purple Hands Wines was created. Craig Stansborough and Mark Slade started Purple Hands in 2006 from humble beginnings. Just over a tonne of hand picked Shiraz was crushed and barrel fermented in Craig’s shed making around 100 dozen.

What a pretty-smelling wine! It's all wildflowers and citrus zest with a light swell of richer stone fruit notes at the backend. Its bright, saline line of acidity shapes the palate nicely, providing both velocity and frame for the tight, bright fruit. There is just a slink of texture there too, along with some alluring gingery spice and clotted cream notes. All in all, it's a lovely example of the variety and promises good drinking times. Beautiful florals greet you and stay the journey. A silky and polished Pinot Gris for your drinking pleasure. Jasmine flowers and little white field flowers spill from the glass. It slides in and its splendor is obvious. That sheen and measured presence ooze sophistication. Lemon juice and lime zest team up and stay the course. White fleshed nectarines and pie apple add further appeal with a finish etched with delicate ginger and cinnamon spices. Presented with a gloriously coloured label, the shelf appeal is sky high. I'd happily recommend this without hesitation. Yes, yes and yes! Drink now. Price: $30.00; Rating: 93 Points; QWine
