The search for vineyards of special provenance began in the mid '90s when Scott Ireland settled in the Geelong region. Keen to work with excellent vineyards west and south of Melbourne, it didn't take long for him to realise that a great prospect existed. An opportunity to bring under the one umbrella, a patchwork quilt of vineyards where the match of grape variety to vineyard site produced great fruit.  Provenance Wines was born, the name chosen in recognition of the source vineyards.

A bright ruby red in the glass, with complex aromas of fragrant herbs, fresh red cherry, wild strawberry, and subtle spice tones. Elegant, fine, and medium-bodied, the palate is classic cool-climate Pinot Noir. Red cherry and plum sweetness are matched with delicate winemaking elements and a savoury mineral note. The tannin and fresh natural acidity provide line and contrast to counter the natural fruit ripeness on the long finish.

A blend of the best regions from South-West Victoria: Ballarat, Drumborg, Barrabool, Moorabool Valley and Bellarine. Polished and intensely aromatic red cherries, raspberries, cranberries, rhubarb and red plums. The tannins are sandy, leaving delicate traces like steps in the sand. An incredibly aromatic grip coupled with balanced acidity and persistent length makes this multi-regional blend a piece of mastery, combining the best of a part of Victoria often overlooked in favour of the usual reigning wine regions. Drink to: 2024-2033; Price: $37.00; Alcohol: 13.6%; Rating: 95 Points; Wine Pilot
