Domaine Pierre Damoy in Burgundy is one of the prize domaines of Gevrey Chambertin. Pierre Damoy took over from his uncle, Jacques Damoy, in 1992. The domaine has been in the family for five generations, founded by Pierre's great-great-grandfather, Julien. Today, the domaine is 10.6 hectares and eight of the ten are located in the most-esteemed Grand Cru in Burgundy.
Clos Tamisot, a 1.5-hectare monopole planted in 1922 and 1945, is referred to as Pierre’s jardin, as it is located right behind the Damoy family residence (it is also Pierre's favorite). The well-draining clay and limestone soil fosters intricate complexity in these very old vines’ small yields. A top site of Gevrey Villages.
A very fresh and impressively complex nose is comprised of various dark berries, earth and violets. There is excellent volume and equally good complexity to the medium weight flavors that deliver fine power and outstanding length. This is a terrific Gevrey villages and worth your attention.
