Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is a sub-regional expression that is unmistakably Penfolds in character. Conceived from the ancient soils of Marananga, which lies very close to the centre of the Barossa Valley floor - slightly to the north and west, where warm dry conditions and rich red soils, provide the backbone to some of the region’s best known wines. Standing on its own two feet, this release delivers a contemporary Shiraz alternative, framed by a mix of oaks; French and American, old and new – crafted in accordance with the traditional Penfolds method.

A very strong showing from Bin 150, this release sourced from the small western Barossa subregion of Marananga; matured in French (29% new) and American (29% new) hogsheads and puncheons for 18 months. Deeply coloured with a beautifully bright aromatic profile of satsuma plum, blueberry and dark berry fruits cut with baking spices, ironstone, dried cranberry, purple flowers, bay leaf, licorice, dark chocolate and earth. Wonderfully plush fruit on the palate and tight, fine, ferruginous tannins. Pure and true with a bright endpoint way in the distance. A great release. Deep crimson. Blackberry, dark chocolate, roasted almond, marzipan aromas with cedar wood notes. Beautifully concentrated wine with complex dark chocolate, blackberry, espresso flavours, fine grainy/ graphite tannins and well-integrated mocha, marzipan oak notes, Finishes cedar firm and minerally.
