The history of G.H. Mumm Champagne details a century and a half of passion. The flagship of the House of G.H. Mumm, Cordon Rouge, has always been associated with situations which evoke Champagne – celebration, refinement, prestige and joie de vivre. Today GH Mumm is the third largest international Champagne House and exports to over 100 countries.
77 wines make up this reference champagne. Well-structured, tonic, elegant and long, Cordon Rouge sums up the spirit, know-how and dynamism of the Mumm champagne house. Pinot Noir (45%), rounded and full, structures this blend with strength and power. Fruitiness, liveliness and a rustic feel are provided by Pinot Meunier (25%). Chardonnay (30%) gives this champagne all its finesse and elegance.
Toasty, yeasty complexity to the nose with some lovely subtle creamy malo notes. Soft, sweetish palate with great flavours and youthfulness. The wine is balanced, well-structured and has character. Rating - * * * * * Winestate Magazine
Pure, delicate aromas of lime, mint and biscuits. Bright but round, with brisk flavors of apple, lemon and minerals enlivened by fresh acidity. In a fairly dry, light style. Finishes with subtle fruitiness and very good persistence. Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
34% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Pinot Meunier Lovely intensity of ripe apple, toasted brioche and lemon tart aromas with a waft of red berries. Crisp acidity, a little lacking in concentration on the mid-palate. Some chalkiness. Long finish. Elegant. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Mumm's workhorse label delivers strong Pinot Noir fruits on the nose, with some savoury chalky and yeasty complexity. The palate is bold and forthright in both flavour and structure, delivering power and richness thanks to plenty of reserve wine, fleshy and assertive finish. Rating 91, 1 Glass - Nick Stock, Good Wine Guide 2011
