Miles from Nowhere is all about a passion for winemaking. Careful consideration was given to the best location & unique sites for the vineyards. Margaret River has such a diverse range of micro climates and unique terroir, so having the right foundation for the vineyards is fundamental to their success. Combine this with the talented, award winning winemaking team lead by Rory Clifton Parks, they have proven to produce exceptional wines that express varietal expression and the true character of the Margaret River region.
A traditional winemaking approach has been taken here, including open top fermentation and extended maturation. The best and most complete of any wine I have tasted from Miles. Deep and concentrated blackcurrant with added rich complexity from the black olive, dark chocolate and slight graphite nuances. Had about 17 months in French and Hungarian oaks. Has a dry chalky finish. Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 points; Ray Jordan
From the weighty bottle to the wine within, this is big and expansive across the full-bodied palate. Yet, there’s a plushness, too, a generosity of flavour from cassis, blackberry pie and a lovely array of spices – warm and exotic. Some heft to the tannins, yet refreshment throughout. Date: Mar 2023; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $89.00; Drink by: 2033; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
Medium-deep ruby with a subtle trace of purple in the meniscus; the bouquet features raspberry/mulberry/red-fruit aromas, with tobacco and pencil-shavings wood notes, while the palate is medium bodied and quite elegant, with fine, powdery tannins that impart a savouriness. Moderate length. It seems slightly forward in development, but the flip side of that is that it's approachable young. Much better than the first bottle tasted and it improves with exposure to the air. Date: Oct 2023; Drink: 2023–2035; Price: $100.00; Rating: 94 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
