Medhurst Wines is the realisation of the long held and shared vision of Ross and Robyn Wilson to make wines of provenance from their Yarra Valley property. The Medhurst Vineyard was particularly chosen for its favourable micro-climate, north facing slopes, good drainage and magnificent aspect. Each Medhurst wine reflects the site and variety from which it is made and the season in which it is grown.
Hand picked and whole-bunch pressed to puncheons, hogsheads and barriques (20% new). Simon Steele has proven, on more than one occasion, that he's a dab hand at making chardonnay. This strikes the right balance between aromas of white peach, orange blossom and ginger and those flintier elements. Really lovely intensity on the palate, finishing saline and long. And as good as it is now, it'll be even better six to 12 months from now. Drink to: 2028; Price: $35.00; Date Tasted: January 2024; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
