Daniel Dampt is one of Chablis’ most celebrated producers, and he produces wines both under his own name and that of Jean Defaix, his father-in-law. The domaine covers 30 hectares of vines (16 in AOC Chablis and 14 in 1er Cru vineyards) split across five sites.

The plot is located above Vaillons, and rarely for Petit Chablis, on Kimmeridgian soil, in a very stony spot. Attractive mid lemon colour, a stony-style bouquet to the extent of a certain smokiness. Fleshes out in the middle of the palate to a clean attractive finish. Good choice for those who want to keep to the classic style. Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
