Deep, dark purple in colour, the nose exudes dark but ripe plum and blackberry with some spice lurking in the distance. The palate displays a kaleidoscope of greater dark fruit characters that fill every corner of the mouth, ably supported by generous, quite silky tannins which add to a brilliant mouthfeel. A big Barossa baby that has already taken its first step with a fair chunk of elegance to boot. Drink now over the next decade.
Showing sulphide roasted meat complexity, the ample level of pure black fruit, tar and anise all work well together; the palate is generous and refreshing, as the tannins and the drive of the finish provide an expansive and engaging conclusion. Alcohol: 14.9%; Rating: 92 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
Given the age of this wine, we recommend decanting all older reds to leave the sediment in the bottle.
