Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England with his wife Eliza and their two sons.
Very deep, concentrated red purple colour, the bouquet powerfully concentrated and intense with blackberry cabernet fruit underlined by sensitively balanced oak, and assertive but harmonious tannins that run the full length of the palate. An impressive wine, full-bodied and powerfully structured, with density and gravitas. This has some wow factor. Date Tasted: August 2022; Drink: 2024 to 2044; Alcohol: 14.5%; Ranked #1 of 79 Barossa Cabernets; Rating: 97 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
