Gioiello Estate was the chosen name for this family winery, in recognition of past generations of the Schiavello family who worked at a property named Gioiello (‘jewel’ in Italian), perched above a hillside town in Calabria, Italy.
An excellent pinot from the Upper Goulburn. It was a small vintage that resulted in fruit of excellent concentration and intensity. A minimal handling approach has been adopted throughout the winemaking process. The nose has a delightful African violet and dark cherry nuance. Then the palate is deeply intense with a lifted high energy cherry nuances and final florals. The tannins are firm but perfectly balanced to support the fruit. Excellent wine. Drink: 2025 - 2035; Price: $50.00; Rating: 94 Points; Ray Jordan
