Situated right next door to the famed Chateau Rayas, for many years the estate's grapes went directly to the local wine cooperative. Now brother and sister, Frédéric and Caroline Charrier run this Domaine, with Frédéric in the vines and Beaune-educated Caroline in the winery.
White pepper from the stems accentuates the fresh aromatics. Full-bodied, but again great freshness on the palate, with is underlined by the piercing acidity. Texturally deep, the tannins are just a little fibrous, but this has plenty of interest and personality. The stemminess might be a little too prominent for those who aren't a fan of whole-bunch fermentation. Sandy soils and aged in concrete. Date: Sept 2021; Rating: 93 Points; Matt Wallis; Decanter
I loved the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a pretty, nicely balanced, elegant 2020 offering lots of red and black fruits as well as some floral, rose, and garrigue-like nuances. With fine tannins, a supple, layered mouthfeel, and outstanding length, it’s well worth seeking out. The blend is almost all Grenache, brought up all in concrete tanks.
