Domaine Dujac in Burgundy was acquired by Jacques Seysses in 1967. The domaine in Morey-St-Denis had 4 hectares of vineyards and he has subsequently built it up to 11.5 hectares. Domaine Dujac now includes holdings in Clos de la Roche, Clos St-Denis, Bonnes-Mares, Echézeaux and Charmes-Chambertin . "Use knowledge and technology to counter accidents - for example, bad weather - but, if all is going well, don't interfere," says Seysses and this principle guides much of what happens in the vineyards and the cellars. Dujac wines are neither filtered nor fined and all of his premiers and grands crus are aged in 100% new oak. These are wines of the very highest order.
Ripe yet very fresh aromas include those of red and dark pinot fruit along with floral top notes, in particular violet. The vibrant and delicious, if not especially dense, middleweight flavors conclude in a dusty and lingering finish that flirts with rusticity. Solid quality here in a package that should reward mid-term keeping. Date: Jan 2024; Drink: 2030+; Issue: 93; Rating 88-91 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound
Glowing purple. There is a fine weight of fruit, building steadily, lifting deep cherry notes, with an excellent texture, serge not silk, but it provides a fine backbone. I can see this ageing into a classic Dujac village Morey, always one of Burgundy’s great village wines. Drink: 2030-2037; Rating: 92-94 Points, Jasper Morris; Inside Burgundy
Aromas of dark berries, plums, vine smoke and spices introduce the 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Village, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless wine that's fresh, flavorful and refined. While the higher appellations tend to grab the limelight, this is a lovely bottle in the making. Date: Jan 2024; Rating: 90-94 Points; William Kelley; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
The deeply-coloured Morey village is perfumed and ripe, with black plum fruit aromas and an edge of violets and earth. There is a slight hint of reduction, but this will pass. The texture is firm but not forbidding, with plenty of sweet fruit coming through on the gratifyingly long finish. The grapes come from an assortment of lieux-dits at the base of the premier cru slope, including Les Herbuottes, Les Porroux, Clos Solon, and Le Village. Most grapes were fermented as whole clusters, and the ageing continues in mainly used casks — lovely. Drink: 2028-2055; Rating: 95 Points; Charles Curtis MW; Decanter
