Domaine Dujac in Burgundy was acquired by Jacques Seysses in 1967. The domaine in Morey-St-Denis had 4 hectares of vineyards and he has subsequently built it up to 11.5 hectares. Domaine Dujac now includes holdings in Clos de la Roche, Clos St-Denis, Bonnes-Mares, Echézeaux and Charmes-Chambertin . "Use knowledge and technology to counter accidents - for example, bad weather - but, if all is going well, don't interfere," says Seysses and this principle guides much of what happens in the vineyards and the cellars. Dujac wines are neither filtered nor fined and all of his premiers and grands crus are aged in 100% new oak. These are wines of the very highest order.

This is also markedly floral in character with an equally broad range of spice elements to the softly earthy red and dark berry fruit, exotic tea, rose petal, violet and lavender-suffused aromas. The fleshy yet precise and highly energetic medium weight flavors are more concentrated than those of the Clos de la Roche though I still wouldn't describe them as super-dense, all wrapped in a hugely long, balanced and moderately austere finale. Much like the Clos St. Denis, this is also exceptionally stylish and classy and should age for several decades on the perfect balance. Jeremy estimates that their Bonnes Mares is now 55% on the red/brown soil and 45% on white. Medium to deep purple. One of the ripest on the nose, with raspberries and cherries as full and flavoursome as they can be before becoming cooked. The wilder savoury character is certainly there, and in fact everything comes together. Reallyrequires long term patience, thinks Jeremy. The tannins give structure which the fruit benefits from. In the end, not
too ripe. Drink: 2032-2040; Rating: 95-98 Points, Jasper Morris; Inside Burgundy

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with notes of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, exotic spices, vine smoke and rose petals. Full-bodied, seamless and concentrated, with a deep and multidimensional core, sweet tannins and lively acids, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. Date: Jan 2024; Rating: 95-97 Points; William Kelley; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a complex bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, Morello cherries and blackcurrant, later joined with subtle blueberry scents. It's finely delineated, quite open and intense as Bonnes-Mares should be. The palate has a touch of dark chocolate on the entry. It's quite fleshy, but there is real structure underneath. There are touches of black pepper toward the finish. Excellent. Drink: 2028-2052; Rating: 95-97 Points, Neal Martin; Vinous

Deeply-coloured and richly fruity, this was tasted last in the lineup, and it is easy to see why. The wine boasts a spectacularly forward fruit, supple, silky texture, and enough density to age for decades. There is enough acidity to balance and enough tannin to sustain the wine over the long haul. Still, there is another dimension of complexity and depth here that is seductive indeed. The grapes come from just over a half-hectare in two blocks, the larger one in the centre of the climate and the smaller one in the south. Drink: 2028-2055; Rating: 97 Points; Charles Curtis MW; Decanter
