I can see some juniper berries, cracked pepper, and rosemary spring. The palate is moreish yet boisterous, so quintessentially Barossa. There is a sweetness of fruit, yet sourness from that acidity, spices, and bitterness from the expanded tannins. Yet those tannins are firmer at the end of the palate, leaving a sort of granular feeling. It's giving wine all the way through. 69% grenache 28% shiraz and 3 % mataro from Altona, Ebenezer and Tweedies Gully. Raspberries, strawberry compote and black fig. Morello cherries and pomegranate juice. A hint of balsamic glaze, dried sage leaf and allspice. This wine is about glorious fruit harnessed in its perfectly ripe life cycle. A celebration of grenache with the allure of shiraz and balance that comes with knowing how and why to blend these varieties together. Bright fruit, vivacity and poise for under $30, that sounds like something I can really get onboard with. A wonderful wine to have with a Massaman curry.
