Based in Epernay, the fruit for Champagne Comte de Lamotte is sourced from Vallée de la Marne located on the riverbanks of the Marne and best known for housing a couple of famous Grands Crus villages of Ay and Tours-sur-Marne. It uses all three classic varieties and unashamedly dry.
Mid brassy yellow colour with a nutty/nougat bouquet, pinoty and rich throughout, the palate full and round, very dry and quite firm at the close, with almost a touch of austerity, which makes for a very appetising and food friendly wine. It's outstanding value for money. Date Tasted: December 23, 2023; Drink: 2023 to 2028; Price: $65.00; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 92 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
