Clairault began in 1976 when Ian and Ani Lewis bought 4 hectares and planted their first vines. Resilient and visionary, they worked their vineyard diligently — crafting their first vintage in 1980. For the next 19 years, they developed and expanded the Clairault property to over 68 hectares.

Fruit from the Bridgeland block in Karridale (in the south). Barrel fermented, mlf blocked, matured for 9 months in French oak (40% new). Fortnightly bâtonnage. Pure, taut, tense acidity courses through this wine. The 2020 vintage conditions have lent an effortlessness to the fruit; it casually sways from salted peach, nectarine, red apples, cashews, pawpaw and back to peach. A beautiful, poised wine.
