This 2018 Bird On A Wire Chardonnay has a lovely richness of classic chardonnay flavours, woven together with beautiful fine acid and subtle phenolics. It has depth and elegance, reflecting classic Yarra Valley chardonnay sensibilities. It’s also versatile, vibrant and perfect for classy dishes with intricate flavours.

33% whole bunches and 15% new French oak. Grown on a vineyard at Yarra Glen. It's a nutty, peppery, twiggy shiraz with excellent, plush texture and sure delivery of cherry-plum fruit flavour. It's medium in weight and has everything balanced just so. Honey-soy characters hover about the nose; cedar wood adds polish to the palate. There's a lot to like about this. Date: Feb 2020; Alcohol: 14.2%; Price: $45.00; Drink by: 2030; Rating: 95 Points; Campbell Mattinson; James Halliday Wine Companion

Syrah from Yarra Glen in the Yarra Valley. 33% whole bunches, 15% new oak. Another excellent release under this label. It takes the world in its stride and feels relatively easy-going as a result and yet there’s much going on here. It’s a nutty, herb-strewn, twiggy shiraz with cherry-plum flavours running throughout. It feels satiny in the mouth, intricately tannin through the back half and satisfying to close. I tasted this over the course of three days believe it or not and it had me nodding every time. Date: Feb 2020; Alcohol: 14.2%; Price: $45; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2020-2030; Rated: 94 Points; Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
