Arlewood Estate, in Witchcliffe, WA produces elegant, soulful wines. Established in 1988, the property is managed by owners Garry and Marian Gosatti, their sons Jordan and Adrian and daughter-in-law Paris.

Deepish and bright red purple colour, with a lifted fresh red berry aroma with hints of crushed leaves and tobacco. Merlot suspected in the mix. The palate is soft and rich, savoury and rounded with granular tannins and good balance. Very attractive wine and well priced. Drink: 2022 to 2034; Price: $40.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 93 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review

Like so many of the 2019s this has taken a little time to come around, but the wait has been worth it. It's a medium bodied Cabernet with a leafy graphite and slightly minerally oyster shell character neatly integrated into a very long finish. Drink to: 2023-2035; Price: $50.00; Rating: 93 Points; Ray Jordan

Light in colour and decidedly red in every way; redcurrants, cherries, pomegranate and red licorice. In the mouth, the wine is elegant and mid weight, without a powerful mid palate. Soft and pretty: claret is back, baby. Drink to: 2028; Price: $40.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 92 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

It's fairly slender I guess but then it's also lengthy. It tastes of currants and violets, leathers and bay leaves, and while it doesn't knock you between the eyes with the first sip, it creeps up on you, and grows on you, and ends up generally impressing, its chocolatey tones rising as it grows. Price: $40; Drink: 2024-2032; Rated: 92 Points; Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
