Founded in 2006, Tenuta Ulisse Amaranta is today the symbolic mark of the enological renaissance in Abruzzo. Tenuta Ulisse presents itself as a modern, dynamic winery which values into a new era where it blends modern winemaking technology and the energetic lifestyle of contemporary life expressing the potential and character of the native grapes of Abruzzo.
Aged 9 months in the French and American barriques, Amaranta is ruby red with garnet reflections; opulent fruit, the bouquet is intense, fruity, persistent, with notes of dried flowers, spice, licorice, marasca cherries. The palate is stylish, velvety, almost creamy, compact with tannic structure that blends nicely with the alcoholic component. Complex, elegant, well balanced with a long aftertaste.
Bert Werden WineStar: Amaranta has become a phenomenon in Australia - and one must say predominantly at WineStar - owing largely to a charmed run it has had with influential Italian wine critic Luca Maroni. The nine releases since the 2008 vintage have all elicited scores of 90 and above, the last seven (2014 to 2020) hitting the magical, Luca Maroni's maximum and some would say mythical, 99 Point mark.
