From humble beginnings in 1880 as a truffle orchard, the vineyard was converted over to vines in the early 1900’s making it today one of the largest Domaines in the AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence area. The vineyard is situated 420m above sea-level and aspect is south-west which allows it to receive around 300 days of sunshine. Farmed organically, the AIX Rose is made from the top blend of Maison Saint Aix.
AIX Rosé is the result of dedication and passion. When drinking this wine you will notice a tremendously vibrant and summery taste - the ultimate expression of Provence. AIX has a bright, pale pink colour and has a delicate balance of crisp acidity and soft, ripe summer fruit.
60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Cinsault
Light coral-pink colour; smoky reduction and spicy, dried-leafy/tobacco aromas. Savoury and quite intense in the mouth with appealing flavour and balance, very clean and dry, fresh and penetrating, with a long-lasting finish. Excellent rosé in the classic Provence style. Date Tasted: January 2025; Drink: 2025 to 2028; Price: $35.00; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 94 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
60% Grenache 20% Syrah 20% Cinsault. Pink lady apple sorbet, cherry blossom and white raspberries. A hint of pink peppercorn and yellow plum skin. Acidity is linear and ebbs and flows across the palate. Unlike some dry Provence rosés, AIX always manages to intensify in flavour from the time you bring it to your lips. There is strawberry shortcake followed by cantaloupe and peppery radish leaf. It is scintillating in its fruity and yet fine textural grace. A dream with seared scallops and chorizo butter.
